BEHIND THE LENS
I'm Joshua Darden - 26 year old marketing and communications student at Roosevelt University. This website is my final for my new media and technology class. What I tried to explore with this site is how social media and the selfie craze has lead some of us to drastic measures of self improving. It may seem farfetched but as we move into a more self fulfilling world, and with plastic surgery becoming more acceptable to talk about and technology and media growing at a rapid race, the human ego, as fragile as it is, will play the intersecting highway for which both crash.
In the articles and videos posted throughout the website, take a moment to reflect on your behavior on social media.
Do you obsess over how your selfie looks?
Not satisfied with the angle of your chin or the slope of your nose or anyother part of your face?
Do you avoid pictures because you’re not “on”?
Do you think social media magnifies these insecurities?
Does likes, re-tweets, etc make you feel good about yourself?
Have you ever considred plastic surgery after seeing yourself in a photograph?
